Notes: A binding from Northwest Germany sewn on cords, with round pegs holding these sewing supports in place. The saddle-stitched endband remains dangling at the head of the spine, offering further confirmation of the regional placement of the binding. The lower cover view is included here for what it shows about the attachment of the straps for the fore edge fastenings. The extra hole in each board is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps these are misplaced mistakes. Or they could indicate that these boards have had some previous use.
